چکیده

The nuclear receptor Ad4BP/SF-1 is essential for development of the adrenal cortex and the gonads, which derive from a common adrenogonadal primordium. The adrenal cortex subsequently forms morphologically distinct compartments: the inner (fetal) and outer (definitive or adult) zones. Despite considerable effort, the mechanisms that mediate the differential development of the adrenal and gonadal primordia and the fetal and adult adrenal cortices remain incompletely understood. We previously identified a fetal adrenal-specific enhancer (FAdE) in the Ad4BP/SF-1 locus that directs transgene expression to the fetal adrenal cortex and demonstrated that this enhancer is autoregulated by Ad4BP/SF-1. We now combine the FAdE with the Cre/loxP system to trace cell lineages in which the FAdE was active at some stage in development. These lineage-tracing studies establish definitively that the adult cortex derives from precursor cells in the fetal cortex in which the FAdE was activated before the organization into two distinct zones. The potential of these fetal adrenocortical cells to enter the pathway that eventuates in cells of the adult cortex disappeared by embryonic day 14.5. Thus, these studies demonstrate a direct link between the fetal and adult cortices involving a transition that must occur before a specific stage of development.

Svnthesis in Vitro of Steroids bv Human Fetal

Presumptive evidence for the production of steroids by the human fetal adrenal gland has accumulated during recent years. The studies involved mostly analysis of fetal adrenal tissue (14) or umbilical cord blood (5-8) for steroid content, the results of which did not unequivocally establish steroid synthesis by the fetal adrenal cortex. Lanman and Silverman (9) demonstrated the conversion of pr...

Laminin isoforms in fetal and adult human adrenal cortex.

Laminin has been proposed to influence the function of human adrenal cortex. We have studied the distribution of laminin (Ln) chains using immunofluorescence in human fetal and adult adrenal cortex. In the fetal gland Ln alpha2- and alpha5-chains were weakly expressed in the definitive zone, whereas Ln alpha4-, beta1-, and gamma1-chains occurred around vessels. In the adult gland, Ln alpha2-, a...

P152: Functional and Structural Brain Changes across Childhood Traumatic Events

Although childhood is connected with high neuroplasticity changes, but because of the immaturity of the neural and cognitive systems, it is ready to grow developmental deviations and future susceptibility for neuropsychological disorders. Young children face cognitive, emotional, and linguistic limits that may lead them more vulnerable to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD prevalence d...

Fetal adrenal capsular cells serve as progenitor cells for steroidogenic and stromal adrenocortical cell lineages in M. musculus.

The lineage relationships of fetal adrenal cells and adrenal capsular cells to the differentiated adrenal cortex are not fully understood. Existing data support a role for each cell type as a progenitor for cells of the adult cortex. This report reveals that subsets of capsular cells are descendants of fetal adrenocortical cells that once expressed Nr5a1. These fetal adrenocortical cell descend...

The effect of Gallic acid on prenatal entorhinal cortex and CA1/CA3 hippocampal areas in trimethyltin intoxication rat

Background: Prenatal intoxication with trimethyletin (TMT) induces widespread neuronal death in the central nervous system by inducing oxidative stress. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant effect of gallic acid (GA) on the neuronal density of the entorhinal cortex, hippocampal pyramidal cells and oxidative stress parameters in the fetal forebrain following TMT intoxication. ...
